Pellegrini: Real Madrid deserved a win over Milan
Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini believes his side deserved more from last night's 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw at AC Milan.
The coach stuck with the same team he utilized against Getafe since they had a good attitude, which he believed would fetch them victory against the Rossoneri. Pellegrini claims, besides the penalty Milan didn’t have many chances; however he also refused to blame the dubious penalty for their failure to collect all three points.
"I feel comfortable with the team's attitude. One point does not offer me anything special or new," said Pellegrini when asked if the result made him feel more secure.
"We had a good first half with 16 shots on goal. There was only one team on the field. In the second half, they controlled more, but we kept them well back and had chances to take with us the three points, which would have been fair."
"We did not win because the penalty transformed Milan, aside from that they did not have many chances. The goal is to qualify, but I'm not happy because we wanted to win. I would have liked it had the effort been reflected with a win.”
Madrid midfielder Kaka is satisfied with his team’s performance at San Siro and asserts they can now talk about progressing to the knockout phase of the UEFA Champions league.
"We've improved. We had a great first half and we can now speak of progress," says Kaka, according to AS.
The Brazilian also noted that he was pleased with the reception he got from the Milan fans on his first return to the San Siro since joining Madrid during the summer.
"I am very happy with how I was received at the San Siro. It's a sign of good things I did here, but now I intend to do it all at Madrid," he declared.
