Kuyt: We've got nothing to fear

Paul Haring - 4 novembre 2009 14:47

Liverpool midfielder Dirk Kuyt aims for revenge against Olympique Lyon on Wednesday night, following the Merseysiders 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture at Anfield.

Although Wednesday night's Champions League encounter at Olympique Lyon promises to be a game of life-and-death, but Liverpool are yet to press panic button.

During their earlier Champions League campaigns, Rafa Benitez's squad have revealed their real strength when they have had to seal the passage to the round of 16.

In the 2007/08 season, Liverpool went on to win their last three group games to progress, including an impressive 4-0 win at Marseille after losing to the French side on Merseyside.

And Dirk Kuyt, who joined the former European Champions after their 2005 Champions League success, believes that the Merseyside based giants have 'nothing to fear'.

"Do we want revenge? Of course. We definitely need to win this match," Kuyt told The Daily Star.

Liverpool's self-confidence remains high despite a run of poor results, in recent times.

"Sure, Lyon a good team with some quality players but we have beaten good teams away from home before.

"We've beaten Olympique Marseille, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona in away games. I don't think we have anything to fear."

Kuyt is confident the Reds can pull off a successful final sprint.

"People may have written us off but it doesn’t matter what people are saying.

"We need to win our last three games. We will try to win every one. We’ll never give up.”
